New Entrant Information

Kakano Team New Entrant School Visits

All children intending to enrol at Swanson School are able to attend pre-visits before starting school. Pre-visits are held in a new entrant class, from 8.50am to 11.00am, every Thursday morning.  We welcome all children from four years of age and we encourage you to attend as many visits as you wish, to help your child have an easier transition to school. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the pre-visit. Please sign in at the office when you arrive at school and you will be directed to the new entrant classrooms. If you have any queries, please phone the school office on 8310001.

For information about programmes on offer at our school,  please make an appointment to see our Deputy Principal.

Enrollment scheme / zone

An enrolment scheme operates at Swanson School to prevent overcrowding.  All students who live within the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school.  Details of the home zone are available at the school office. Each year the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone is determined by the BOT.

Swanson School Enrolment Scheme

To enable the Secretary to make the best use of existing networks of State schools and avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the board of Swanson School has adopted an enrolment scheme that has been approved by the Secretary of Education.

Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone. Please contact the school directly for a description of the boundaries.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education Act 1989.

The enrolment scheme, which includes a precise description of the home zone, may be viewed at the school office where copies of the scheme are also available.
