Swanson School Choir Rocks!
Last night, Swanson School Choir performed their 2010 show to a packed house. The Theme of the performance was ‘Let’s Rock’, a collection of dance tunes from the 40’s through to the 90’s, with a few other well known tunes thrown in to the mix. It was good to see so many students from Swanson involved in the show. The Choir itself included over seventy students ranging from year 3 to year 8. Twenty students from Pohutakawa Junior Choir sung, and the school’s Kapa Haka group performed an item as well. A performance like this provides such a rich opportunity for our childrens’ learning, from the commitment to the rehearsals, the discipline needed to learn songs and follow instruction, through to the joy and excitement of performing in front of a live audience. Not to mention the boost it has to their self confidence.
The success of the performance was due to the dedicated work of all of the students involved and the many people that helped. A special acknowledgement goes to Mrs Debora Logan, the Director of the show and the Choir trainer, Mrs Annette Duxfield, Leader of the Kapa Haka group and Mrs Barbara Jacka , teacher from the Pohutakawa Syndicate.
Here is an example of some of the wonderful feedback we have received from our community:
We are Grandparents of one of the choir members who performed last night. The children were all a credit to the school and the teachers who put in the hours training the children. A most enjoyable evening.Well done everyone.
