SUPADUPA R13
TERM 2 2010
Kia Ora, Namasthe, Bonjono and Hello to all Surfers and Parents
Our new Swasnson School website is stunning and I am proud to present information from Room 13 into this website. I feel that this will be a "funtastic" way to keep in touch with the school learning community and show you some of the wonderful work we are doing at our school. I will soon check the school's policy on placing photographs of students at work and play and having fun at school.
As the classroom teacher, I have an added responsibility to undertake leadership in the Koromiko (year 5/6) Syndicate, as well as undertake the organisation, supervision and coordination of all areas of sport, physical education and physical activity at Swanson School.
However, my first priority is to ensure the accelerated achievement of of all my wonderful students in Room 13. I want them to be challenged in the class so they can start using higher level thinking abilities to undertake classroom activities. Please feel free to come and have a chat and also provide any form of support to ensure that your child is making progress at school.
I would like to reinforce that learning happens anywhere and anytime. A such parents and caregivers have the responsibility of guiding and assisting their children with learning at home. All I ask is that you ensure that your children are reading daily, learning spelling and increasing their vocabulary, know how to write using correct grammar and understand their basic facts and place value.
These are the basic foundation elements required for scaffolding all types of learning. If students get a good grasp of these, they will excel at school. We as teachers can then provide new accelerated learning opportunities which will meet the curriculum and ability level of each individual student.
So let's work together and raise the standard and potential of your children and in so doing create a wonderful learning pathway for their future aspirations.
