Room 1
Term 3 2011
Welcome to the Room 1 page!
Kia Ora, my name is Miss McLachlan and I am the teacher of the fantastic Room One. We currently have 32 superb students in our class.
Welcome to Term 3.
We have a busy term ahead of us with winter sports, cross country, speeches, and the school production happening this term. Many Totara students are involved in the school production which will be performed in Week 9 of this term.
Our writing focus for the beginning of term is persuasive writing. Children will learn the structure and language features of persuausive writing and develop arguments and discussions on chosen topics. Each student has performed a speech in front of the class with two students going forward to our school speech competition. Congratulations to Hannah Oledan from Rm 1 who placed 3rd in the Year 8 final.
In Mathematics we are continuing to work on Multiplication and Division as well as beginning Algebra.
As always Totara goes to Bruce McLaren each Tuesday morning for Tech which the kids really enjoy. Please make sure that correct footwear (covered toe, not canvas) is worn and hair is tied back on Tuesdays!
As the weather has become cold and wet it is necessary to send a change of clothes along to school for sports on Wednesdays. This means the uniform is not messed up and children can continue their day without being uncomfortable sitting around in wet, muddy clothes.
Please also ensure your child has the correct school uniform and that it is worn properly as many students are starting to look rather scruffy with incorrect uniform items being worn to school.
Room 1 is a fantastic class to work with! There is no blame in our class. We take responsibility for our actions and support each other in our learning. In our class it is ok to make mistakes because everyone does! We have heaps of fun and laugh a lot while doing some really great learning!
