Room 6
Welcome to Term Two 2011
To parents and families,
Welcome back to this term. Again we have a very full programme planned for your children.
We began the term with Touch training and the children remembered skills they had learned last term. This was very encouraging and meant they could progress to a game situation. Later in the term, there will be a Touch tournament and we look forward to winning the Pohutukawa trophy. We are that goooooooooood!!!!!
Our topic focus is 'Endangered Species of New Zealand'. We will be studying a variety of animals/insects/birds and will focus on one in particular. Room 6 will be learning about the Giant Weta more closely and we may see some real ones, dead or alive at Arataki when we visit later in the term.
We have currently begun our Swimming Intensive at Westwave. The first 3 days have been very successful. The children have been assessed and are beginning to be extended in the level at which they belong. This type of learning experience can not happen without the help of adults and I am very grateful for the help being offered. It is quite tiring helping 5 year olds change into and out of their clothes as well as helping them keep track of their belongings. Thankyou sincerely, to those who have been able to help.
Towards the end of the term we will be folk dancing and Jump Jamming. This is always good fun and teaching the children traditional folk dances, as well as more modern moves is rewarding.
Once again, please talk to me if you have any queries or concerns.
regards
Julie Wray
