Pohutukawa Team New Entrant School Visit Dates
All children intending to start at Swanson School are able to attend a pre-visit before starting school. Pre-visits are held in the new entrant reception class, from 8.50am to 11.00am. There is an opportunity during the visit for parents and caregivers to meet the Principal and Deputy Principal for a chat in the staff room. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the pre-visit. Please sign in at the office when you arrive at school and you will be directed to the reception classroom. Welcome to 2010 in the Pohutukawa Team
This year we are starting with 4 classes, with two Year 2 classes (Rooms 7 and 9) and two Year 1 classes (Rooms 5 and 6).
Our typical daily programme includes greetings, singing and oral language, followed by team fitness at 9.30. We then move into our reading programme until morning tea. After morning tea, our focus is usually handwriting, maths and written language. The afternoon session includes topic activities and PE. Classes will follow slightly different programmes, depending on library and digital classroom times.
If you have any queries or concerns, feel free to pop in and see your child's teacher before or after school. If you need a longer discussion, we will need to make an appointment, as we often have meetings after school and we are busy with the children in the morning. We value parent help, so let us know if you can spend any time in the classroom helping.
