Room 17
Welcome to Room 17's webpage. There are 25 students in our class and we are an energetic bunch. Mrs Duxfield is our teacher. We are part of the Nikau syndicate.
In term one we enjoyed getting to know one another. The school Art Exhibition was a lot of fun and we were all very proud of Ashley Grant for being overall winner for Nikau Syndaicate. Congratulations Ashley. Our topic of "Our Ecological Footprint" gave us all something to think about, especially in our role in caring for our environment, by recycling and reusing.
This term our topic is Mini Beasts. in particular a variety of insects. We will be learning to recognise that all living things have specific needs so that they can stay alive. Another focus is to develop an understanding of how some living things live in a particular habitat specifically suited to them.
Thank you for your ongoing support with helping your child with their homework. Each Monday students bring home homework which is to be completed over four days and is due back at school on Friday. Should there be any reason why a child cannot do their homework please send me a note or an email early in the week rather than wait to the last minute.
Our library day is Friday so please make sure library books are returned to school on that day. Children are able to take our two books and allowed to have them for a period of two weeks.
On Thursday morning we have sport so please remember to bring a hat and a drink of water.
