Global West ICT Cluster
Well done and congratulations to the Global West ICT Cluster!
The Minister of Education announced last year that the government would invest $9.6 million over the next three years to support 30 clusters of schools with plans to put ICT at the heart of their teaching programmes. Four West Auckland Schools – Swanson, Sunnyvale, Royal Road and Birdwood – have successfully won one of these Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) contracts to the value of $360,000.
Bruce McLachlan, Principal of Swanson School, will be the project director, and will work with Principals and ‘lead teachers’ from the other schools, Sue West, Director of Globo Ltd and local Internet Service Provider, Vivid Computers to transform learning through the innovative use of ICT.
This is a collaborative project where over 84 teachers and 1700 students will benefit from the facilitation and training. Teachers and students will work together to create shared meaning and construct new knowledge as 21st century learners.
